BENNINGTON DOWNTOWN STATE OFFICE BUILDING

The Governor, Howard Dean, decided that an existing building in Bennington should be renovated as a model of energy conservation and renewable energy. Based on our past experience, William Maclay Architects & Planners was selected to achieve the State's goals.

We have been working to design a building which is a quality work environment using daylight for lighting, highly energy conserving walls, an energy conserving mechanical system with excellent indoor air quality, and solar energy for hot water. In working with an existing building, we have had to address moisture, existing building constraints and historic preservation requirements.
